I love the idea of photographing the same spot throughout the year. I did it once when a friend moved across country. I took a photo of her favourite tree in each season and framed them. She loved it. I think I will also find a spot to photograph throughout the year.
What a special gift for your friend!! Absolutely recommend giving it a go for yourself as well. There is a lovely community on Lea Leendertz Substack where we all share photos each month (and other seasonal bits and bobs.)
Despite being born-and-bred Midwesterners neither my husband nor I have ever been to a hockey game (diehard Packers fans though)...so this year we're going to our first hockey game at our local university.
The usual winter activities here: snowshoeing, voluteering at the annual local sled dog race, making time to actually use the sauna in our basement.
I love this! January is always unexpectedly one of my favorite months of the year because it’s so cozy and there’s not much pressure to leave the house.
Eating up my pantry is on my January To Do List!

A hockey game is such a good example of an “only in winter/january” activity! I hope it’s a great match.
YES to more sauna time! I’m headed up to the north shore in a few days and have multiple sauna reservations 😍

Absolutely!! The lack of pressure makes it such an easy and cozy month.
